Pearl, June’s birthstone, is the traditional gift for one’s 3rd and 30th Anniversary.  Pearls are most commonly thought of as round and white, but they come in many shapes and colors.  A pearls color is a combination of its body and overtone color.  Pearls are available in both saltwater and freshwater varieties.  Five factors determine value: luster, orient, surface-cleanliness, shape, and size, as well as availability with saltwater production far less than freshwater.

Care:  Wipe pearls clean with a soft, dry or damp cloth.  Mild soapy water in fine, but no mechanical cleaners.  Avoid contact with chemicals.
