Another birth stone for November, Citrine derives its name from its marvelous golden color - the yellow of the lemon. It belongs in the extensive quartz family. In history, this stone has been confused with the yellow topaz, and in fact, the citrine has many times taken the place of the yellow topaz for jewelry wearers. The intense yellow to golden brown colors are a reminder of the warm autumn leaves in the fall. Rarely found in nature, the yellowish colors are attained through the heating of amethyst.
